It’s been a long time, but I have been busy writing as I have promised. I have basically completed the first serious version of the script for Redress. I have shelved it for a while as there are some rough spots that need smoothing and I want to take a fresh whack at it after the holidays.

I had started work on the novel for Cinco de Mayo Massacre a long time ago but I could never get past the first chapter, so I shelved it after staring at the screen with writers block for several days. The story was all written in a treatment I did a while ago, but

After some serious thought I pulled out the 1/2 completed screenplay and 14 page treatment for Bedbugs from Hell. After a lot of thought I finally decided to make this my next official writing project and my first novel that I will seriously attempt to get published. Rather than just call it the same things, I thought I would name the book after the Shady Palms Motel that is the centerpiece of the story.

The great thing about this project is that the story is basically written. Now I just have to fill in the gaps and add some detail. I don’t have to worry about special effects or other film related crap. I can just write the story the way I see it and then it’s done. If nobody officially publishes it I can always self-publish through Amazon.

Given the fact I have little time to write anymore, I think I am giving myself a year to come up with a solid first draft for this one. We’ll see, I’ve always been one to play it by ear, so maybe I’ll fall into a good creative streak and push this puppy out faster.

Well, while I sit around waiting for this economy to get a little better – and by better I mean where people will want to invest in my films again – I am going to start g on the novel for Cinco de Mayo Massacre.

As I sat on the script for the last year I began realizing that there was so much more to the story that I wanted to tell. I had been toying with the idea of doing a novel for a long while now. Way back in the day I had actually written a number of novels, shorts and poetry. As my creative side boils over with ideas I think it may be best to start churning out more of these as novels.

The nice thing about a written story is that the MPAA can’t tell you what to cut. You don’t have to argue with producers over the script and there are no technical issues with telling your story. All you have to do is get the words out onto the page

As far as who will publish the story and so on, I have no idea yet. I’m going to write the book before I market it. If you guys like my films, then I know you will love the original stories. If everything goes according to plan, I want to eventually write a novelization of Slaughter Disc which will be based on the original short story I wrote way back in high school.

Well, it’s official. I am starting pre-production on Cinco de Mayo Massacre. Film treatment is almost complete, the website is up and I already have a few distributors and investors nibbling. This will be an entertaining and original film once it’s completed… I’m not spilling the beans yet, but there will be a ton of sex and gore in this one if I have it my way

Here’s the official Press Release for those of you that misses it:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Steel Web prepares Cinco de Mayo Massacre

San Diego, California (May 5, 2007) – Steel Web Studios is pleased to announce that pre-production has begun on ” Cinco de Mayo Massacre “, our second feature film.

The tale of ” Cinco de Mayo Massacre ” unfolds as a group of college students become lost in the New Mexican desert on their way to a party. They stumble across a secret Native American burial site and unwittingly disturb an ancient Aztec spirit. Hell bent on revenge due to injustices from the past, the spirit embarks on a bloodthirsty rampage through the desert.

The film was originally conceived as a fictitious title for a scene in Steel Web Studios’ short film ” Mail Order Bride “. Soon after the release of the film, fans began to request that the concept actually be made into a movie.

The feature film is inspired by historic events and Latino folklore from the Southwestern United States. Rather than simply exploit the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo, the film will explore some of the darker parts of Spanish/American history, such as the conquest of the indigenous people in the name of religion, while attempting to represent the controversy surrounding the holiday itself.

” Cinco de Mayo Massacre ” will be written and directed by David Quitmeyer, the creator of the notorious erotic horror film ” Slaughter Disc “. David was born and raised in New Mexico, so Mexican, Hispanic and Indian cultures have a heavy influence on him through out his life.

Steel Web Studios is currently seeking distributors, investors, cast and crew for ” Cinco de Mayo Massacre “. Curious individuals may visit the official website for more information: http://www.cincodemayomassacre.com

About Steel Web Studios
Steel Web Studios is a producer of independent films with a small studio in sunny San Diego. “Slaughter Disc”, our feature-film debut has won widespread international critical acclaim since it’s premiere in March 2005. Our second DVD, Tales from the Carnal Morgue, which features several of our short films will be released in June 2006. In addition to “Cinco de Mayo Massacre”, we have several other films in various stages of pre-production.
